So first, I need to apologize to everyone out in the interweb for not blogging. Bad Amanda, bad.
In my defense, this has been an insane summer. I was gone all but 9 days in July. One of my best friends, E, got married at the beginning of July. I spent the first part of the month with her getting ready for her crazy wedding. Then, P. and I went to Arkansas to see his mom and step-dad. All I have to say for Arkansas is that people shouldn’t go there for the food. And the last week in July was spent in Cape May, NJ with P.’s dad, step-mom(sort of), sisters, and brother. Never heard of it? I’m not surprised. It’s a Victorian style beach town at the very tip of NJ. It’s fantastic, and filled with joy, and P. and I never have a bad time.
I think the most exciting news however is that P. and I are buying a house! It’s a fabulous arts and crafts bungalow, built in 1912, with a fireplace, wood floors, big back yard. We are very excited! Buying a house is a huge financial and emotional commitment for us, and god willing, it will all be done tomorrow. Then we get to move! Everyone keeps asking me if I’m excited, and I keep lying and saying, “Yeah, it’s great!”. However, when someone actually poses that question to me, all I want to say is “No, I’m anxiety riddled, extremely bossy to those around me, and emotional basket case who cries at the drop of a hat, and my stomach has been sick for 3 weeks. I’m not going to be excited until after we close and take possession of the house. But thanks for asking.” This is not exactly what people want to hear. So I lie. It seems easier.
Assuming we close tomorrow, then we will take possession on Wednesday. Then I go back to school on Thursday. Greeaat timing. I guess that’s why we have weekends….
