I Knew It Was A Good Idea! March 27, 2008

So what did I see yesterday while perusing the cleaning supply aisle? A bottle of Murphy’* O*l. Simple enough, yet upon closer inspection I see that the bottle totes that the cleaning fluid is mostly made of VEGETABLE OIL! See, I was right! You can use vegetable oil to polish your floors. I feel strangely justified in my efforts to be thrifty and green…..

P.S. The Murphy’* O*l did however, do a shitty job of polishing the floors. But whatever, it’s still made of vegetable oil…….

i once “cleaned” a water ring off of my antique wooden farm table by rubbing it with olive oil. :)

see? you were right. maybe you just need some more elbow grease to buff the oil into the grain of the wood and leave a good shine…

wait, though, do you know, were your floors refinished recently? If so, then oil soaps might not be the best thing to use since the woodgrain is probably all full of epoxies and stuff… I should look at your floors closer when we come to visit.

Yes! Our last home had ancient wood floors that I mopped with warm water with olive oil and lavender oil. But the floors were so bad that it just sucked it right up. Maybe your floors are just too new and nice.
